{'I could have killed them' - Lawson experiences near miss with Formula 1 marshals
Formula 1 competitor Liam Lawson disclosed he narrowly avoided a potentially fatal incident during Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix when two marshals darted across the track directly in front of him
The alarming incident took place on the third lap when safety workers were observed on the racing surface as Lawson was returning to the race following an premature pit stop to replace his compromised front wing

Shortly afterward, the Formula 1 racer Lawson spoke to his pit wall engineer saying: "Are you kidding me? Did you witness that? I could have... killed them"
"I honestly couldn't believe what I was observing"
"I exited on a new set of hards, and then I arrived at Turn One and there were just two guys running across the track"
"I nearly hit one of them, truthfully, it was incredibly risky"
Safety Concerns Raised
"Obviously there's been a failure in communication at some point but This is the first time I've faced that before, and I haven't previously witnessed that in the past. It's pretty unacceptable"

Governing Body Reviewing
Formula 1's governing body, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), is thoroughly reviewing the events
"Subsequent to a first corner event, track officials was advised that wreckage remained on the track at the apex of that corner" commented the regulatory authority
"In the third rotation, track officials were informed and made ready to access the circuit and remove the wreckage once all cars had passed"
"Immediately when it was understood that Lawson had pitted, the directives to deploy personnel were rescinded and a double yellow flag was raised in that zone"
